Noor Illi Mohamad Puad is an Associate Professor at the Dept. of Chemical Engineering and Sustainability (Formerly known as Dept. of Biotechnology Engineering), Faculty of Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
In 2011, she obtained her PhD in Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science from The University of Manchester, UK.
Her research interest is mainly on
- Plant Cell Culture Technology
- Flux Balance Analysis
- Biohydrogen production from starchy wastewater.
She has received with several grants under Malaysian Government Agency under the topics of Flux Balance Analysis of herbal plants, fruit and staple crops in Malaysia as well as Biohydrogen production from sago wastewater. She has also presented her research outputs in various local and international conferences since year 2012.
Dr. Illi has published several papers and book chapters in the local and international referred journals under the topics of plant cell culture technology and biohydrogen production. She has taught various courses such as
- Cell and Tissue Engineering
- Fluid Mechanics
- Separation Processes for Biological Products
- Separation Processes I
- Biopharmaceutical Engineering as well as the coordinator for Biotechnology Engineering Laboratory 2 (Thermodynamics), Seminar and Final Year Project 1 and 2.
Dr. Illi is now the coordinator for Plant Biotechnology Laboratory and also the member of Curriculum Review Committee in the Dept of Chemical Engineering and Sustainability. She is a Section Editor for Bioprocess Engineering Section under Biological and Natural Resources Engineering Journal (BNREJ). She served as the Academic Advisor for B.Eng Biochemical-Biotechnology (Hons) and B.Eng (Chemical)(Hons) programmes from 2018-202. She also has been assigned with several secretarial tasks in the departmental level as well as the University level.
